Characteristics and microstructures of the GFRP waste powder/GGBS-based geopolymer paste and concrete

Abstract A novel method is developed for reusing the waste glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) powder as a precursor in geopolymer production. Several activation parameters that affect workability and strength gain of GFRP powder-based geopolymers are investigated. The results an experimental study reveal early pastes develops slowly at ambient temperature. highest compressive 7.13 MPa age 28 days. ratio to flexural powder-based-geopolymers lower than fly ash ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS)-based geopolymers, indicating incorporation can improve brittleness. GGBS incorporated into blends accelerate activity powder. binary exhibit shorter setting times higher mechanical values those single pastes. concrete mixture with 30 wt% displayed was less brittle. powder/GGBS-based reduce disadvantages or thus, offer high potential building construction material.
